Pokerrrr Welcomes Short Deck Hold’em

It’s all the rage right now. With high-rollers such as Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan bringing this version of Texas Hold’em to the spotlight, we’ve decided to give the people what they want.

You can now play short deck hold’em on Pokerrrr. This is a fun and fast alternative to normal hold’em that is sure to get your heart-rate going!

What is Short Deck?

To play short deck, we simply remove the deuces, threes, fours, and fives from the deck. We now have a 36-card deck in which sixes are lowest. Because this deck is smaller, it juices up the action and changes the odds of hitting various hands.

One key difference is that a low straight in short deck is A-6-7-8-9.

Rules Variations

To account for the new odds, we also need to change the hand rankings around a bit.

In short deck a flush beats a full house, and three of a kind beats a straight.

Why is that? Well, in short deck, there’s less of each suit, making a flush significantly harder to hit. Plus, because there are less numbers in the deck, that also makes straights much easier to find. Even though three of a kinds are more likely than in full deck hold’em, they’re still not as common as straights in short deck.

Here’s the full list of hand rankings:

Royal Flush

Straight Flush

Quads

Flush

Full House

Three of a Kind

Straight

Two Pair

One Pair

High Card
