Grinding up your total amount of chips can be a long-term commitment. If you want to go from having only a small starting stack in your account to being one of the biggest fish in the pond, it’s going to take discipline, patience, and dedication. By having the right mindset as you go into this journey, you’ll be in a much better spot to achieve your goals.

Start by playing small games, such as those that require a 100 chip buy-in, before you move up to 500 or 1000 chip buy-in games. And make sure that even if you lose those

100 or 500 chips, you’ll still have plenty of chips left in your account to buy back in and keep grinding.

Finding the Right Game

The easiest way to grind up your bankroll is by finding a game that you can beat and then playing it a ton. If you enter a table and find that the players are really good, don’t be afraid to walk away. Look for tables with inexperienced or bad players and then keep playing that game until you’ve taken all their chips.

What this really comes down to is taking the time to improve your poker skills. Study hard. The best way to win more chips is by becoming a better poker player, and that means spending lots of time learning away from the table so that you can up your game.

A Professional Mindset

If you’re serious about building up your bankroll, you have to approach is as a serious pursuit. Develop a professional mindset. It may be a game, but if you treat it like an occupation, you’ll find more success.

This usually equates to putting in enough volume. To be a dedicated poker player, you need to keep playing no matter what, and you need to prioritize poker time. Life is full of obligations, but a pro makes sacrifices to make time for poker. That’s why they call it grinding.

Building a bankroll may be one of the hardest things you do as a poker player. But nothing worth going after in life is easy, and overcoming the challenge is one of the most satisfying parts of being a poker play. Good luck out there, and keep grinding!
